This colourful 1970s Carven haute couture maxi dress has a high rounded neckline with short shoulder straps and flows down into a sophisticated A-line shape to the ankles. The material is a lightweight silk chiffon in an alternating chevron and horizontal striped pattern in bright shades of raspberry and bubblegum pink, lime green, teal and white. The dress is lined in a silk, off-white taffeta and finishing at the point where the dress breaks out into a wide box pleated flounce for extra flow and movement. It fastens down the back with a hook and eye at the top and six different pop studs – when worn, these are completely invisible.
Despite extensive research, we have been unable to attribute this dress to a precise haute couture collection as it has such timeless appeal and looks so fresh and modern. That said, we can comfortably date it between 1968 - 1975. In superb vintage condition with remarkable levels of preservation. Just a few pin head sized marks scattered to the bottom flounce. These were noted on very close inspection with the dress in hand. It is a best fit for around a UK size 6-8 or US 2-4.
